A Case of the Ticks. Hello all, first I'd just like to say hello, this is my first time posting!
Anyways, I was reading though some info here about engine ticks. I have a 94 Firebird (V6
) that also ticks like a madhatter. It sounds like a lifter from what I gather. Higher pitched *tink tink tink* that is always going on, unless I drive for a good distance. Stop tinking at about 30miles into a drive.
I read an old post from 2004 that had peeps talking about it maybe from an o-ring at the oil pump. No one ever really said anything after that, even though some were about to try it.
Has anyone has any success with changing this o-ring and having the ticking stop?

No word on the whole o-ring thing?
A friend of mine was also thinking that it could have something to do with one of the pulley systems or something because when I'm rev'ing up the engine the ticking doesn't speed up.
So yeah, I'm not very good with cars so I have no idea really. I just don't trust shops that much... maybe because I don't know anything.
