still having low coolant light problems

still having low coolant light problems I installed my $51.00 sensor last night and ended up with more problems. The light is still on but now the car is running hot, I pulled the thermostat out hoping that maybe it was just stuck and put in a gutted housing I had laying in the garage but it still runs around 210. I always thought removing a thermostat would make a car run cold, it always has for me anyway. I'm just wondering if that sensor controls the fans too? I can't figure out why that damn light won't go out too, this car is driving me crazy!!

I'm not sure what you've done so far, but it sounds like you have air in the line. Its a VERY COMMON occurrance for do it yourselfers... Happened to me, too. Check out this thread.

Also, removing the thermostat will not cause it to run cooler. What happens in this case is that the water does not have enough time in the radiator to cool because the flow rate is too high. I am having similar problems with my LT-1. I'm thinking that a higher temp thermostat may actually help it run cooler (if that makes any sense).
