electrical (ground) issue or alternator issue?
electrical issue or alt issue My girl has a 99TA, in the last year we have replace the alternator 3 times.. and have replaced the battery 3 times.. now its to the point where the new alternator is charging the battery.. on the dash.. in the past the reading would be above or on 13, now its sitting on 9 and will not go up... someone said it may be a ground issue.... does anyone have any suggestions on what to test or maybe how to test ourselves? can the ground cable from the alt be replaced easily? we are at a point now that if we cant fix it ourselves it will have to sit for sometime and cant do that.. this is or was her daily driver and now im her daily driver... Any idea? Suggestions? or maybe a part number/ name for that cable so i can call around to get prices...

could be a short somewhere. If you have a test light, you can disconnect the negative cable, and hold the test light between cable and the negative post. If it lights up any you have a short somehwhere. Other wise have the battery tested and the alt tested and see if they are bad
The battery has been replaced 3 times, it currently has a new battery in it...drove the car home and voltage never moved from 9... the alternator has been replaced 2 times... Original, replaced with one from Autozone and about 6 months later another alternator from autozone. and the alternators were swapped at 2 different locations. so would it help if we replaced the negative and positive cables with new ones from the dealer? and would the short be something to look for within those 2 cables or could it be somewhere else within the car?
