car randomly does not start

car randomly does not start Ok..this is my second T/A and both cars have done this. My first was a 2000, my current is an 02.
I'll put the key in..twist..and nothing. all the electronics come on, i can play witht he radio, move the windows, seats, etc. but the motor doesnt even attempt to turn.
I've thought that maybe the little chip thing in the key is screwy.
Last night this happened to me..and when i rolled my car out of the drive to try to jump it the key cranked the motor when i tried it.
Everyone time it's every done it i've let it sit for 3 or 4 minutes then tried again and the car has started.
So...anyone run into this before? anyone have any suggestions? it's extremly disconcerting when it happens.

I have that same thing happen to me. Check your wires going to the starter selinoid(little small ones) If any of them look remotely heated or damaged replace it. If that is not the problem your in the same boat as me. Some how we have to get into the steering column and replace not the key switch itself but the part that completes the circuit when you turn the key. Refer to my thread "getting into the steering column". This is our problem.
Its more than likely the ignition switch. Theres I believe a restior inside where the key goes that wears out and causes the car to not start. I had to have mine replaced And it was cheap but it starts every time now.
