pcv hose question

Default pcv hose question

on the pcv hose the part that connects to the manifold is there supposed to be a little hole in it to let it breathe? i have a little hole in mine right before it connects to the manifold and i can hear it sucking air pretty loud. i really need some help with this one guys let me know asap. thanks

The breathing should be done (on an Fbody?) through
the hose to the TB and the suction through the port
on the intake manifold. No outside air should be taken
in that doesn't come through the MAF first. Holes in
the hoses are not right.

Yes, a hole in a PCV line is not supposed to be there. That hole is a vacuum leak.

when i cover up the hole it wants to turn off and i let it go to breathe and it idles fine what is wrong?

It learned to live with it (fuel trims) and now it's
bent in the head. Plug the hole and let it learn
back right.

thanks jimmyblue, do you know where to buy one of these hoses its the seperate piece of the hose that connects to the manifold the rest of the pcv hose that runs along the sid of the manifold is fine.

If you plug the hole with your finger, it'll act like it will die, but it won't. Worst case, start the car again and crack the throttle open while you plug the hole. Get a new hose/pcv and disconnect the negative terminal on the battery, it'll make the computer do the idle relearn- kind of like when you swap cams.

After I got my LTs , I went to CAM to get a tune and dyno. It was only making 302 rwhp, we couldn't figure it out, one of the guys found it. It was a hole (a huge hole) in the pcv valve. They did the duct tape mod and, then dynoed again it made 320rwhp. That little hole made a big difference.
