Default Is this an optispark problem!?

Yesterday I was going to my friend's house and my car just suddenly started sputtering like it was going to stall out but my RPM's never dropped. Anyway the putt putting slowed down on the way there. I stayed there for about an hour and when I left my car ran perfectly so I went to my other friends house. When I left his house it ran perfectly again. Come this morning when I was taking my niece to school it started acting up again but this time it was BAD!! The car is missing on I don't know how many cylinders, it's backfiring real bad, I can't even drive over 20mph because it starts stuttering real bad and jerking you back and forth! My car is not even drivable with how bad it is right now. Could someone help me? The car is a 6speed 94 Trans Am.

Could be either moisture in the opti or a wire that is going bad (maybe even the coil wire). Sometimes, if the water pump starts to leak, the coolant seeps into the optispark. The stories that I hear with water in the opti is that it leaves you stranded. Car won't run. I would get it scanned and see what codes its giving you. That might help a little. Unfortunately, you have to take the water pump off to check out the optispark, but if your lucky, you might get away with putting a new set of wires on.

I've also heard of running the car in the dark, spray water (with a squirt bottle on the wires and see if you see any arcing. If you do, you got a bad wire.
