when your tint is rubbing off in a straight line it's a good indicator that the felt is no longer performing it's function. When you start seeing tears then most likely your window stabilizer is broken.

So the wear can only be on the inside and not on the outside of the window? ill replace the tint and the felt tips. ihope the glass its self was not scratched before the car had tint.

I know this is an old thread but I have a similar issue:
On both windows apx 2" from the top of the glass, when my windows are DOWN, something in the door is rubbing/cutting on my tint, both windows have a hole in the tint apx the size (width) of a pencil eraser, the rh side started first then a few months behind the drivers side. My guess is when the door is slammed, something is hitting when this happens? Anyone else have this issue and does this sound like the same slider issue?

The window stabilizers were $40 for all 4 at the dealership because he said they were $20 a piece but would cut me a deal...I dont know if he was bullshitting or not but it was worth $40 to get this problem fixed.
Hope this helps you.
