From my experience the security light being on is the vats thinking someone is trying to start the car without the actual key. the key cylinder doesnt recognize the resistance from the pellet to be correct and your car wont start until the damn thing goes off. somebody couldve bypassed the system by wiring in a resistor. dont know much other than that. happy selling

The lock cylinder failed after the car was started and it set a dtc and defaulted to vats off. Measure the resistance of the key, go to rad shack and get a resistor of that resistance and then splice it into the two white wires in the orange tubing under the dash by the column. The Security light will go out then.
