Default Buzzing coming from rear of car?

This just started happening today it seems, it's a loud buzzing.. kinda sounds like a dremel on a really low setting. Doesn't matter if the car is moving or not, if the lights are on or not. It goes away when the car shuts off though. It doesn't get louder with speed or anything like that. It's sometimes goes away for a second, but comes back.

Sounds kind of like an electric buzzing in a way as well. If I get out of the car, I can still hear it. If I kneel down near the driver side rear tire.. I can hear it plain as day. Not so much on the passenger side.

I have no idea what might be causing this noise. Any ideas?

It's possible. Is that where's it's located? I'll try to get up under there and see if I can pinpoint it this weekend, if it's still doing it.

Yup, it's located in the rear on top of the tank.

Mine is doing the same thing....Don't feel too bad. It doesn't seem like too big of a problem, I am going to upgrade fuel pump and filter to be safe.

Awesome. Thanks for the help. I'll check it out as soon as I can. Are they fairly easy to replace? Something tells me it's not, being on top of the tank and all.

It wasn't making the noise today on my way to work, so it may infact be going out. Better to replace it now than be stranded somewhere. I just want to make sure it's the culprit.

check your fuel pressure. i think its supposed to be like 41 psi idleing or something like that. if it runs fine i would worry about it. i put a new one in my old black formula and its a pain in the ***

oh and another thing, did you try to put it in neutral to see if it would stop then?

Right now my exhaust is stock manifolds to cats and to a chopped off y-pipe. The section of the y-pipe where it starts to turn towards the center is where it was cut off. So there's no exhaust back that far to be making that noise.

I heard it while driving, put the car in park and got out trying to pin-point it. Park is basically like neutral anyway, minus the ability to roll the car.

my buzz only stops if the car is in N , drive park reverse what have you , all make that noise, our exhaust was off for a week and it still made it, but we found out that it was the heat shield in the back

If it was the heatshield, wouldn't the tone/pitch of the buzzing change as the RPM's do? Mine was/is constant with no change.
