Default Damn Charging Problem!!! Random red wire found.

Okay...so first things first i my lights were pulsing and my alternator was whirring....bad bearings...

So i had someone install a Duralast one from autozone....but on the way home the car died. Then I returned it...got a new one...and a new battery...and it still only sits at the top of the yellow (like 11 volts) and slowly will drop down until the battery is dead.

My alternator isnt charging my battery.....so i bring it to Midas

It turns out that the guy who originally tried to fix my original alternator ripped the plug of that red wire that plugs into the top of the alternator...all thats left is a hanging red wire.. (not the big wire from the positive side of the battery...the other one)

What does it do? Would that plug not being connected affect my battery charging

Please help!

Thanks, Greg

with that little wire off, your alternator will not charge the battery.

IIRC it is the regulator for the alternator. Determines how much power gets sent to the battery from the alternator.

On my '98 LS1 (in an RX7) I just put a 470 ohm resistor inline to switched 12 V. In a stock Camaro it would go to the alt charge light. '99 (?) and up it goes to the PCU.
