How to remove headlamp switch?

How to remove headlamp switch? I think I have an electrical short behind my headlamp switch.How do I remove it? Do I have to remove the bezel around the guages first.Or does the AC vent pop out?

headlight switch in place. Two connectors to switch, one
on left should be dimmer switch connector.
This is what the Helms manual shows for a 2000.

a tab on either side of the trim (inside) that hooks to the
dash.Just ease the trim off with your fingers and you'll see
the switch.
