Why would you spend $20 and not get a chipped one for $45.00 ... What if you lose your key and then you're forced to pay the $45 anyway to get one that will start your car. Why would you put yourself through all that bullshit. Just get an extra key made and be done with it.

This dude at work locked his keys in the car the other week and decided to pry the window open to get at the lock. Problem was it was a 15yr old import and it was -26. Needless to say the window shattered. Turns out he had CAA(think roadside assistance) at the time and didn't think to call them.

Free door unlock or smash the window out.....yeah great decision to go with the screwdriver.

I really haven't read this thread so if it has be suggested already my apologies but I vote for C4 on the lock.

Not $20..just get a key cut less than $5 .. the object is to get into the car not make a large investment...put the spare in your wallet incase you are unfortunate enough to do the "I locked my keys in the car" act again..

OnStar uses satellite and cell phone technology... but it's actually wired into the security system, so they can send a code across a cell phone signal that will unlock the car.

Very interesting and a helpful feature. I like the On-Star radio commercials.

The object is to gain entrance to the vehicle...the key with the chip in it is locked inside the car..for about 3 bucks you can get a key cut the will open the door..then keep it in your wallet in case it happens again..

One key to unlock car (no chip). One key to start car (chip).

Spend $45 for chipped key and still be looking at a locked door....

Is this still going on? Here is the gospel on it. Two keys are needed here . One to gain access and the other to start the car. The chipped key is what you use to start the car. If you have locked your keys in the car you dont need to spend the 35-45 for this key. All you need is to have a the other key made from your vin at the dealer. Thats it plain and simple, no need to carry on wayward son here.

quick way into most GM vehicles...remove antenna and slide it in window to push the unlock button...I'm sure you could find a cavalier around that you could borrow the antenna for a minute if you don't want to pull yours out
