Default Need help with Colant temp. sender please!

Well i was trying to hook up an autometer temp gauge today. I started taking out the collant temp sensor on the head and a little bit of colant came out. I realized after searching that you have to get an adapter of lsx engines because of the thread on the heads. Can i just put the sensor back on and start my car or do i have to take the air out of the system again, by doing the bleeding of the system with the hose close to the tb and pouring the colant and all that. (example http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm)

Are you removing the stock sensor? If so you dont need to do that. On the pass side head there is a allen head plug, in the same place as the sensor on the drivers side head except for the pass side plug is at the rear. Just think if you were to swap heads with each other where the sensor would be once you swaped them. In the rear. Pull that plug, screw the autometer one in place, no bleeding or etc required. I used the parts that came with my gauge didnt need anything special.

That is true. I would contact autometer, & tell them what you need. They will have it to you in no time. A buddy of mine had to do that.

You can buy the NPT to metric adapter from www.autobarn.com. Click on the link for the part number. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...t=sending+unit I also wouldn't worry about bleeding the cooling system.

Remove the plug from the passenger side head and run a 1/8"NPT tap. Careful you don't go too deep with the tap because the threads are tapered. It'll look like this.
