Changing over a 99' SS to a power antenna tips?
I have been looking for several weeks for some tips on the correct and best way to swap out the stock antenna for a power operated type, but I have not been able to find anything. I know that I have seen discussions of this swap before, can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

I ordered the GM power antenna unit. It was about 90.00 but what the hell.
Then I ran three wires up to the front. I cut off the factory connector on the antenna since I didn't have the wiring in my car for it.
My factory harness didn't have a power antenna pin for the place where it would go on the back of the radio.....
So I took a pin from another harness and contected it into mine so that it would contact where the power antenna output pin should have been with a factory harness. It was pretty hard to get the pin to pop out of the other harness, but I did it. I wired the newly inserted pin directly to the power antenna. The place where you need to insert the pin is in the top left part of the radio harness if you are looking at the radio facing you. Just use a test light and turn the radio off and on. Then, I just wired the other two to a constant hot and a ground.
Works like factory!!

I also used blackcamaro's web page as my guide to install my GM antenna.
Here is a picture of the "pin" that I used on the back of my radio...
Pin
I got mine from an old computer serial port adaptor.
Here's a picture of my install...
Antenna
I pulled the bottom as far forward as I could, to tip the extended antenna backwards.

I actually used a driver's side bezel, flipped it over, and trimmed it up. Here's a picture that shows the initial rough cut lines...

I actually took a bunch of pictures and started to write up instructions, but there didn't seem to be a lot of interest.
Don't forget that installing a pass power seat will add some weight... maybe 10lbs? That's one thing I never checked... weight.
