temp question

just wondering what temp your z runs at. just got my 98 z and want to make sure everything is working correctly.

also looking for a good tire for the 16" rims

Probably fine, 98's were blessed with an accurate gauge - 99's and up read just under 210 all the time once warmed up. You think it's too cool or too warm?

i still have the stock 16' rims, i use the BFG KDW, they work pretty good

Search the appropriate section for tire information.

The most straight line traction comes from a Nitto NT555-R extreme drag radial on the rear tires. For the money Kumhos are pretty good. I got mine for $88 each shipped.

With a stock t-stat and stock fan settings, your running temps will range between 190-230*F. Actual temp will depend on outside air temp, and stop and go traffic vs. open road cruising. Obviously, the cooler end of that temp range will be in cool/cold weather during low rpm cruising at speed. Expect it to creep way up in hot weather and/or heavy traffic.

thanks for the good info, i thought the temp seemed a little low, right above the low mark of 160(i think its 160).even when crusing or sitting in drive thru. outside air is 45 degrees though.

While it’s true that the ’98 temp gage does actually function, rather than the "dummy light" gage of the ‘99+ cars, it’s still not dead accurate on exact coolant temp. Only way to really tell is with a scanner.

FWIW, when my ‘98s gage reads just slightly above that low mark you mentioned, my temp is showing 190-195 on my scanner.
