Default Good Battery?

Its time to replace my battery. Is it worth it to step up to the red tops or should I stick with the AC Delco. What are the advantages of the red top.

Go red top, as for advantages. Red tops can surrive just about any road or offroad conditions and they come with 3 year free replacement. I had a red top in a sand rail and it lasted for years with a lot of abuse, like roll overs, dune jumping, and it has been under water serval times. I have red tops in all of my vehicles.

if your planning on going with a sound system or some other electrical stuff get a yellow top. its a deepcycle so you wont have to start the car every 20 minutes to re charge the battry if your listining to the system with the car off at a party or somthing like i do.

Think your better off just going to Autozone or something like that becuase of shipping. The yellow top is a marine battery and deep cell i beleive.. The red top has plenty of cranking power for a normal car and they are about 60 dollars cheaper..

sorry didn't know that was the only difference. I don't have a sound system and don't listen to music without the car running so I will go with the red top.
Thanks everyone

I've always had good luck with them.

The factory assembly line AC Delcos aren't all that great, but the AC Delco Professional series has always worked great for me.

One of the major benefits of an optima type battery is no corrosion under or near the battery.

So Red Tops have more cranking amps, but Yellow Tops can last through more drains/recharges The Red Tops tend to cost about 2/3 the price of the Yellow Tops.

http://www.optimabatteries.com/publi...ology/faq.html
"In any vehicle or equipment that will use the battery only for Starting, Lighting, & Ignition requirements and has a properly working alternator, the OPTIMA Red Top Starting Battery will perform extremely well, often providing up to two to three times longer life than conventional batteries. If the vehicle has few or no after-market accessories and uses a stock or upgraded alternator, the OPTIMA Red Top Starting Battery is the appropriate choice.

Remember, it is possible for the customer to have a completely discharged Yellow Top OPTIMA that will not start their engine; the advantages of the Yellow Top are that it can accept a rapid recharge and it will recover from discharge many more times."

http://www.optimabatteries.com/publi...eep_cycle.html
"OPTIMA Yellow Top batteries, featuring SPIRALCELL Technology, are designed for all of your deep cycle needs. It's perfect for people who are serious about sound. OPTIMA's power is cleaner with higher voltage output than conventional batteries. You can play your system louder and longer. And they have a greater cycle life so they can be drained and recharged more often."

Get the Optima Red Top and be done with it.

Them A/C Delco's like to explode, like it did in my T/A, and alot of other memebers cars as well. And when they explode it makes a nice big mess, I had to replace both battery cables because the battery acid ate right through them. The battery cables were not cheap either.

Peace,
Craig.

I found a battery dealer in Omaha that sells Douglas batteries. $50-ish. 5 yr warranty.

They were exact replacements and are doing fine. Had a bad year last year and had batteries in 3 vehicles die natural deaths in the same year. No way I could have afforded $100+ for each of them for regular car use. Unless you have the cash for the best, why spend it if you don't have to...
