starting problem I have a 98 z28, 105,000 miles, what happens when I go to start the engine is it usually doesn't fire up on the first crank. I turn off the key, try again, fires right up. One thing I noticed when changing the fuel filter was that there was no fuel pressure to release. I'm wondering if there is a check valve somewhere that maintains pressure to the fuel rail when the engine is off so that fuel is available when you start it? Anybody have suggestions?

i think i have your answer there is a pressure relase valve that is on i think the driver side fuel rail. might also want to check your starter. if you think that your starter is going bad you can take it off bring it up to an autozone and hey can check it for sure.
i just fixed a similar problem. we thought it was the fuel pump but we took it to the dealer and it turned out it was only the ignition realy. It was going bad so it wouldnt put out enough volts to start the car just crank it. I was happy because it was only an $8.00 part. just something to check into incase it wasnt any of the other things.
