Hatch release hardware preinstalled?

Hatch release question.....

hey guys, my '02 camaro does NOT have a hatch release button on the dash, so everytime i wanna get something from the back i have to turn the car off and get out and open the hatch myself. however i found a button and dash piece on ebay. my question is do i have the wiring and hardware already in place in my car for the hatch release? like... could i buy this and just attach the wire to it and be done? or am i most likely missing everything from the dash back?

Do you have power doors? Do you have the remote to be able to unlock/lock your doors with the push of a button? If so, the "Rear X2" button will open your hatch if pressed twice.

You could check the latch mechanism for an actuator...just pull the carpet back and look for some wires and a motorish/solenoid sorta thing. There will be a couple wire for the hatch light, but there should be some more for the actuator. If there is an actuator, I would assume the rest of the wiring is there, but that's just a guess on my part.

Your car is a stripper like mine and mine doesn't have the wiring or actuator on it. It's just one of those little inconvienences that you have to deal with for some minor weight savings.
