Default T-Top locks....

My T top locks don't work with my passenger key since they are not form my car.

What I was wondering is if anyone knew how to remove the housing on the T top lock cylinders so I can re-order the tumblers and make the lock work with my car's orginal keys!!

Any ideas?

If there is a way, I don't know what it is yet. I did find this while looking around: http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=45100 . Sounds like if you can register there and get in contact with 'hugger_sixty_nine', he could probably tell you what you need. (If he does, it'd be nice if you post the instructions here for future reference )

I contacted a lock smith and he said he can do it.

However, I am going to see if I can get a hold of that on on your link. Free is better than about the 30 the smith wants to re-arrange the tumblers in the lock.

Worst case, I just buy tumbler pins from the smith and just install them myself after I learn how to remove the housing.

Will keep you posted!

The black cap on the top needs to be pryed off to access the tumblers. The cap gets destroyed in doing so, So you'll need to buy a new cap also. Locksmith should have them.

Thank you Shawn. That did work and I was able to get the lock cylinder out of the housing. Now the question is HOW to remove the pins. They look like they come out of the bottom. You can't pull them out though. Must be some kind of release I guess.

The tumblers are released from the bottom when you push on them sideways with a small screw driver. I didn't have the correct tumblers to just swap them out, unfortunately. No lock smith in town has the correct parts either....

Well, since you were able to get the old ones out, here are the GM numbers for replacements

roof lift-off panel (t-top) lock cylinder tumbler (93-02) #1 = 6259309
roof lift-off panel (t-top) lock cylinder tumbler (93-02) #2 = 6259310
roof lift-off panel (t-top) lock cylinder tumbler (93-02) #3 = 6259311
roof lift-off panel (t-top) lock cylinder tumbler (93-02) #4 = 6259312
roof lift-off panel (t-top) lock cylinder tumbler (93-02) #5 = 6259313

how do you know which order to set these to the key? Is there a code somewhere on the door or do you have to look at the door lock or something?

Well, the lower numbers are pins for high areas and the higher numbers are pins for higher areas of the key.

I guess the lowest area u see on any key is 1 and go off that!

The t top lock only uses the back four tumbler pins.

It is hard to guess which is which so I am just going to order a couple of each and figure it out. I just want one damn key to control all of this stuff. LOL I really wish I could have of just swapped around the tumblers but the existing pattern and my keys pattern arent the same pins in a different order!!

I was able to get the lock apart and back together again without destroying the cap but it took some paint off it. No big deal.

Each one should be a pack of ten in the particular size, and each pack should cost less than a dollar, so you could get all five packs and experiment

How do you put a t-top lock back in the t-top if the entire lock falls out.

Sounds like you are missing a clip.
