Open your hatch, and check for body panel seperation in the corners of the drain ducts, a few hard launches can open cracks in the body which lead to water seepage during rain.

Check your A/C drain. There is a little rubber tube, behind the inside of the passenger front tire, that is supposed to drip condensation from the evaporator core. This is probably clogged up and when it rains, it fills up when water runs off of the windshield and then it drains down the heater vent on the floor. This will run down the back of the carpet and puddle up on the passenger side floor. I had this happen to two other older GM cars that I owned. Good Luck.

Check the grommet for your hood release cable where it goes thru the firewall, mine had popped out and I had the same water under the mat you do.

Do you find this from the engine side or cabin side?

So check the corners where the b piller meets the quarter? Is that where the drains are?

My 02 z28 Just started doing the same thing this week and funny thing is it hasn't rained in more than a week
But i have the same exact thing going on in my car Driver's side floor but only wet under the floor mat about 3 inches in front of my Driver's side seat and around a 3x5 inch wet spot and not one trace of dampness or water anywhere near the fire wall
Did you find out where it's coming from yet?
Saturday i am going to pull the driver's side seat out and all the trim and see if i can trace it under the carpet

Had that problem once and come to find out the car had been wrecked before and the frame warped. Later on (when I was the owner of course) I started getting lots of water under the mat. It would soak the floor. Never anywhere else, just under the drivers side. The smell from the water and sun will run you out of the damn car in the summer. Best thing I did was pay to have the car professionally clean the floors and seats and sell it. Of course you may can find the source of your trouble and take care of it yourself. I didn't have that luck.

Typically, if you aren't leaking from the window/T-Top area, it's somewhere from the back hatch. Not too long ago, we had alot of rain here. I had some papers on the driver's side rear floor mat and they were soaked. I haven't checked mine out yet, but like some people were saying above there are seams in the hatch area that separate or the weatherstripping in the hatch area isn't doing it's job right. The water will start draining down into the car and then water gets trapped under the back seat. Afterwards, as you stop and go, water starts moving towards the front into your car. This might not be your problem, but check the carpet behind your seat. If it's wet, pull the back seat out because there might be a nasty *** puddle underneath it and the water has been making it's way to the driver mat. Otherwise, take a look underneath your car and see if there is anything suspicious.
