Ok thanks guys. Im gonna try and hook the scan tool up to it again tonight. Just for reference i just put the car back on the road last week and drove mabey 3 times so far (the weather got shitty up here again). So thats mabey a total 10 times the car has been turned on and off since the new cluster was put in. Dont know if that changes anything but Ill let you know how the scan tool works out. Thanks again.

If you want to know if it is because the new cluster isn't synchronized just stick the old cluster back in temporarily and start the car. I wouldn't be surprised if the air bag light goes out the first time you start the car.

think I have this exact issue. How do I synchronize properly? Can it be done with HP Tuners?

No a dealer can do it or if you do so many ignition cycles without throwing a code it will go off.

I know this is an old post but does it go away after so many cycles?

looks like it may not go away this is a cut paste from GM techline

With a scan tool, verify that the IPC is programmed with the correct VIN by comparing the VIN that is stored in the IPC to the VIN that is stored in the PCM.

Does the scan tool indicate that the IPC is programmed with the correct VIN?

You can replace a IP from one car to another. It isn't plug and play though.

You have to turn the car on. Leave on for 30 min. Turn it off for 30 minutes. Cycle until it works. Eventually, the modules will relearn all the correct "tokens" to pass around.

This isn't documented in any literature I have seen. It was told to me by some people I know from GM. It worked for me, too.
A Tech 2 should still do that anyways.

I think that statement was calling for a Technician to check and see if stuff was stolen.

Key on not running. That probably requires a garage and a battery charger but its worth a shot on a lazy afternoon. Unless that's not possible. then go for the Tech2. But that costs money...

I tried the 30+ min on and off a few times today didnt seem to affect the light,
I had a rolling 5.10,25,50/200 amp charger booster set on low charge to keep the battery alive
