well the torch is kind of a last resort. always try with the impact. if u want to change tires with that 350 lbs tq then its ok. if ur looking at using it for a lot of different things, look for something with more power and not cordless or electric. more power is ALWAYS better.

If you are going to get an impact, get a smaller air compressor that you can easily store at an APT. Like 15-25 gal. I am not sure what kind of space you have to work with but that shouldnt be too bad. I know your funds are limited as well, but I think that you would rather do that especially over a cordless one or an electric one. The cordless would lose power if it is torquing under a heavier load.

Heating a steel fastener could lead to reduced strengh even if it doesn't get glowing hot.

If you heat the nut it will expand and help you get it off. Although the bolt will get hot direct the heat on the nut only. You really don't want to heat the bolt as it will expand and make it tighter. A propane torch will help if it is not really rusted on there. As a last resort you can heat the nut to almost cherry red. this will usually get it off. but if it is really bad the heat will soften the nut making it easier to round the corners off. ONLY use a 6 point socket. You also risk softening the bolt and it will twist off but at that point you would have to cut it off anyway.

As said befor use heat as a last resort after soaking with penatraring fluid, impact wrench, or a nut splitter.
