Default dies when using clutch, grinding noise in idle

For those of you that know more about cars than I do, I need your help. Whenever I put my foot on the clutch to downshift or put my car in neutral it dies. Does anyone know what could possibly be causing this? Also the gas pedal is slightly sticky so in order to get the car moving I have to over-rev it. Lately it has been making this clunking/grinding noise whenever I'm idling and my foot is not on the clutch. Could these three problems have anything to do with each other? What is wrong with my baby?

Pretty much anytime I step on the clutch. The car has to be running for a while before it happens though. For example, tonight I drove probably 10 minutes to campus and it was fine the entire way there but if I make the four hour drive to my mom's house it'll start acting up a couple hours into the trip.
