Default power surge

i had the same issue with my daily driver, lasted for about 2 months until one day the car died.
I put in a new alternator and its been fine ever since.
Apparently that is a tell tale sign that the alternator is not charging properly.
Either the alternator is slowly dying or the the underdrive pulley is preventing it from giving a full charge when the car sits at idle.
Make sure your alternator is charging at least 14.5 volts at idle .
