Default Cruise Control Removal?

I searched and didn't find anything about removing the cruise control. Is there anything special I will need? Or can I just take the box out and just use the existing throttle cable? Anyone that has done this or can give me advice on what I will need?

Ok, well I removed the cruise control and now the throttle cables won't work. Do I need to buy a new one?

im thinking that when you removed it, that piece on the cable that goes to the throttle body that you adjust it with separated and is just sliding back and forth.

I removed it too and took out the traction control unit. I was able to remove all three cables and both units for pretty good weight saving. I replaced the throttle cable with one out of a non tcs car, it goes staight from the throttle body to the pedal. Only problem is it has a slight bit of slack so I can't go wot. I thought it would be a direct replacement but I guess not. Now I need to get a spacer or figure some way to tighten up the new cable.

Digging this up from the grave because I'm doing this tomorrow. I have got the throttle cable from a non TCS car. Is there something I need to know to tighten the throttle cable?

I just crimped a small piece of metal on the cable right by where it attaches to the pedal. You need to pull the pedal all the way up and see how much slack you have in the cable, then just find something to put on the cable to make up the slack.

Easier way is to slide the plastic retainer on the pedal asm back then take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull a knot in the cable. But, before you do any of that I would try it there is no difference in the pedal asm between a car w and wo traction control. Now the cable bracket under the hood is probably where there may be a diffference which could cause the problem

Because you can save some weight and clean up the engine bay getting rid of that whole assembly. If I remember right it includes the traction control too. When I upgraded to a 12 bolt I got rid of all that stuff. It's probly not the best idea for a daily driver, I rarely drive mine very far, hour to the track is the farthest I go.

How much weight are we talkin' about? A few pounds or a few tens of pounds?

Is it REALLY worth it? Just curious that's all.

The cruise module and tcs might add five pounds.

It's not about the five lbs, it could have been 1 lb and it would still be gone. Everything adds up, anything that is useless to ME goes. It's about making the car faster and easier to work on. A lot of things are not worth it to some people and that's why there are a lot of slow *** cars out there.

No, nothing like that. I won't remove anything I use or anything that will hurt the looks.
