Adjusting Driverside Door
Adjusting Driverside Door In the on going effort to fix up some misc. things in my car, I need to adjust my door. It is sagging, and when it opens it rubs against the bottom of the panel. I was wondering if there are any special tricks to adjusting it, or if it was just about the same as other cars. Loosening the hinges, pulling the door up, and tightening them
I was also wondering if my local autoparts might have those little clamps that hold the window/doorlock panel down. Because I'm missing some of the clips, so my panels sit funny, and I'm missing some bolts in the interior that hold it together.
Any info would be appreciated, before I go and mess something up.

Hey bud. If your door is sagging, chances are your pins/bushings are rusted out or disintegrating. You are going to have to have a buddy lift and lower the door while you look at the hinges to see where the play is. If it is the bushings, GM sells the kits for the hinges that usually includes 2 pins and 2 brass (I think they're brass) bushings.
The only real PITA is to compress that little, but heavy duty spring to get it out, and even worse to get it back in. Check Pep boys or something for a mini door spring compressor. Usually cheap. simple tool. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'm gonna have to go take a look at that. I'm tired of the damn door sag scratching up the underneath of the door. If that's the issue, I will probably just take it into our school shop and use the spring compresor and everything there.
