I've got 25K on tr55's before also. Still looked pretty good when I changed them. Some people (especially if you're racing a lot or running nitrous) will change spark plugs more often.

check the big connector at your coils.....I just had the same problem on my car and moving that connector around smoothed the car right out and got rid of my code.Still need to pull it back out and find out why the wires are so loose and moving around but thats another day.

This is true but you will have bigger problems than bad plugs if you run nitrous on TR55s. TR6s are recommended by almost every f-body owner running nitrous because it is a colder burning plug. If you run a TR55 with nitrous it will possibly melt the plug. The gap from the TR55 is .055" or .060". The gap from the TR6 is .035". I know of some that ran better with TR6s on a n/a motor than with the TR55s. But just as you were saying, more racing wears out the plugs faster because of the heat.

That PO300 engine misfire could be a TON of things. Go to the library and get a Camaro/Firebird service manual, there's a list of a bunch of things to check, MAF, plugs, wires, injectors... As far as those NGK plugs go, everyone seems to suggest 25k miles, if you get the NGK TR55GPs you get longer warranty. Available at advanced auto parts..

What effect would using TR6's over TR55 on a stock car have? Online sites says that the TR6's help put out lower emmissions (which is what I need). If the car is totally stock, would it really make any difference?

Im using tr6's gapped at .045 in my n/a car. Im doing so because I milled the crap out of my stock heads. When the car first starts in the morning its a little rough because I think im blowing out the spark even though the wideband reads lean. The fuel just isnt vaporizing cause its not spraying on a hot intake valve yet. Once the car warms up the tr6 runs very well, and makes great power without a hint of ping.

If you are lowering emissions, you are burning more of the fuel therefore getting a little more power out of every stroke. I think the only difference on a stock motor is the gap size. Most LS1s tend to run better off TR6 gap than TR55 gap.

CASHss99: I wanted to comment that I, too, had a PO300 code, mine ended up being a spark plug WIRE that had partially melted.

TR6s will foul out much quicker. Other than that, you can safely run them on a stock LS1. I've done it in two different LS1s, but trust me, they do foul out fast. So be prepared to change them every 5k (on my Vette I noticed the idle quality beginning to suffer after only 2k with them in)
