Top end cleaner?
I was thinkin about doing a top end cleaner since Im about to pass the century mark in about a week. Which one would you guys recommend? And how would I go about doing it? Also, what else should I do while Im at it? I planned on doing new fuel filter, plugs and wires. Thank you for the input.
I use Seafoam...pretty much any parts store should have it. There is a writeup somewhere on here that I used at one time but the procedure is simple. Pull the brake booster hose - it is sitting under the hood very close to the firewall on the driver side. There is a small clamp that you just loosen up and move down the hose, then pull the tube.
Start up the car and slowly pour the Seafoam into the tube. The car will surge as it pours through. I use about 1/2 a can or so and use a small plastic cup that I can bend to pour into the hose. When you are done pouring turn off the engine and reattach the hose. Let the car sit for at least 30 minutes before starting it again and then rev it up. HUGE clouds of smoke will pour out the tail pipes after doing this...the neighbors will think your car is on fire or something. I usually do this once a year and then change the oil right afterwards.
The fuel filter change is also VERY easy and I do this at least once every couple of years. Check out http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm for very good writeups on fuel filter and plug changes.

Thansk for the reply KCRickSS. Im gonna try it. We've used Seafoam before but not on the car, but the boat instead. The only difference we just put it in the gas tank when its full. Looks like I'll be visiting the auto parts store soon! Thank you again.
i put seafoam in my TA a coule months ago and if i remember correctly it didnt say anything on the bottle about pouring the seafoam into any underhood hose. i thought it said either pour it into the gas tank or add it like you would a quart of oil. correct me if im wrong unless this is another way i dont know about.
what would the advantages be introducing it into the brake booster hose?

The bottle itself doesn't mention this but I read it on one of the LS1 boards. Here's a link that has some more detail on it: http://members.nuvox.net/~on.roz/cars/z28/seafoam.html
The brake booster runs straight into the intake, so you are basically cleaning the intake out directly. This helps a bunch, especially given the inclination of the LS1 to suck oil through the PCV valve (I also have an oil catch can to help reduce the amount of oil that goes straight in). The effect is pretty convincing...and entertaining for anyone in the area.

Like KCrick said....going through the brake booster or pcv the seafoam gets sucked into the intake manifold.
