Abs Inop? What The Heck?
Hey guys yesterday when i got in the car i started driving and look at the gages to see that the ABS INOP light is luminated and the e-brake and low traction light are flashing.
My brakes worked fine all night and the car was not acting weird at all, when i turn the key right before the on position, i can hear the ABS relay ticking in the fuse box, what the heck does this mean?
Also all the lights stop when the car is stopped, but sure enough when i continue going they do the same.

Hmm, maybe there is a difference in the 95' and 02' manuals about that...Mine says ''If the anti-lock brake system warning light stays on longer than normal after you've started your engine, turn the igningion off. Or, if the light comes on and stays on while your driving, stop as soon as possible and turn the ignition off. Then start the engine again to reset the system. If the light still stays on, or comes on again while you're driving, your vehicle needs service. If the light is on and the regular brake system warning light isn't on, you still have brakes, but you dont have anti-lock brakes.''
Thats what it says in my owners manual. I hope it helps.

ABS reads speed sensors in the wheels to work the brakes. Those sensors die or the lines get severed, and its goodbye ABS. My RF speed sensor wire broke loose of its anchors and dragged on the highway for 250 miles, destroying the wire. ABS light came on.
It could be something as simple as that. I am sure you have already checked the fluid, but it can set ABS INOP over some of the goofiest crap.

Sometimes it's the simple things that make it light up
Done some burnouts recently, hit a huge pot hole, or some other suspension rattling hazard, spun the tires in the rain ?
All the above reasons can make the ABS INOP light light up, so far I've done 2 and every time the abs inop is staring me in the face, for varying amounts of time (longest was 3 days)

Try pulling the connectors off your speed sensors at the wheels and cleaning them out really good (electrically clean). Brake dust can get in there over time. Same thing happened to me a few years ago. I believe those lights will give you a code on a scanner as well. Probably will be a speed sensor code. I haven't had a problem since. Good luck.
You could probably race with those lights on as long as your sure the braking system is intact (ie. no leaks or clogs in the brake lines).
