Reason for Oil in threads of Spark Plugs
Reason for Oil in threads of Spark Plugs Outside of a valve cover gasket leak, any insight why oil would be in the threads and on the body closest to the plug wires, on spark plugs?

Would this be due to the top ring (compression ring?) not sealing and allowing oil in the combustion chamber and onto the plug? I thought the rings don't seal really well until the engine is warmed up anyway - if that's the case, would it be normal to see some oil?
I think I misread....you're talking about the outside of the plug - in that case, I'm not sure.

I usually apply a small amount of oil to the treads of my plugs to make them easier when its time for a plug swap. I think on my next change I won't use any oil to see if I'm having the same issue as you are.
