Anyone using loctite on the bolts?

Is this only for the 2 idler pulleys, or all the other pulleys as well?

I've done it on all the idler pulleys.

The water pump, alternator and power steering pump could theoretically be done too, but they require disassembly. On my Mitsubishi Montero, you can't buy the pulleys, so this was real useful for them.

I used loctite on the bolts, it's easy and I figured why not? You should be able to do it on the 2 tensioner pulleys and the 2 idler pulleys. I have not done it on the one idler pulley with a Torx head yet because, well, that mother is on there and I twisted all of the teeth on an apparantly cheap T50 bit trying to get it off. I'm getting my money back on that set.

Did any of you get any seepage of the new grease?
I got a little, so maybe I over filled? wiped it down for now.
I was getting a 1200 rpm vibration . . maybe this was related . . don't know.

I didn't get any seepage. What I want to try next time is putting the bearing in a bearing pack device.

I just had an engine vibration right around 1200 rpms, after I cleaned all the grease that seeped out, the vibration went away.

I used a synthetic mobil1 wheel and bearing grease. I'll keep an eye on it, hope it does not leak any more.

Vasoline wheel and multipurpose grease should work right? The tensioner pulley has got a tiny tiny squeal when ever the engine idles and Im gonna try this out before I spend the money on a new pulley.

I just did this procedure on my car. I am very happy. My car is twelve years old and this is the first time I took off the torx bolt. It came off relatively easy. I also put on two new gatorback belts and she is very quiet!

Are you original owner? Maybe previous owner loaded it with loctite?

I just greased all mine this morning. Took me less than an hour start to finish, and my mysterious chirping sound is now gone. My Torx bolt wasn't that hard to get off at all btw.

Anyone have the part # for that A/C Idler pulley bolt, T50 torx... I stripped mine out and about to weld a nut to the end of this one to get it out or grind the head off and remove the stud. Need to have the new bolt in hand before I do that though... I am having a tough time finding it on any GM website.

It doesn't list it in the parts list. It lists the V6 AC idler bolt for some reason.
That PN is 24503929, maybe the bolt is the same?

^ Possibly, what I am being told now is the bolt is custom and comes specifically with the acdelco idler pulley only and cannot be ordered separately. Thank you though, I will check that out...

Good mod as long as the seals are still good, otherwise you'll need a new pulley or bearing.
