i did this pulley maintenance today and wanted to add something to the original post...
both my idler pulley and tensioner pulley looked slightly different than the pic in the original post once i pulled the seal off. both of mine had a bearing cage that needed to be removed also. to do this i carefully pried up on the cage just above one of the ball bearings and then worked my way around the cage.
if yours is like my tensioner pulley you should be careful when reinstalling the cage because the ***** moved when i was working the grease into the bearing.
my tensioner pulley was basically dry and the idler pulley had old grease in it but i could feel a rough as i turned it. that rough spot didn't feel as bad once i put some grease in it... this mod probably extended the life of both of my pulleys

Did this on my 3rd LS1. Updated 1st post with more pics and info.
If you pop a seal up and see the bearing cage, pop off the opposite side seal and you will see it is more open so you can carefully pack in some grease with tip of small screwdriver.

Wish I had seen this ages ago, my idler pulley is well gone now. Where do you guys get the best deal for a quality idler? They have to ship Inter'nal though. Cheers

Probably one of the easiest fixes ever, doesn't cost more than a $10 tub of good quality wheel bearing grease.
I originally replaced the squeaking idler pulley on my four year old 1999 Z28 with 41k miles. Damn thing started squeaking again about 3 years later at 70k, did this exact regreasing on the ac and idler pulley, never had a problem with it when I sold the car at 130k.
My 1998 Z28 convertible was making the EXACT same "chirping" noise as my old 1999 Z28, and I knew it was a $10, half hour fix. Managed to get the buyer down from $8,800 to $7,800 based on that noise and a couple of other minor cosmetic things.

Just enter your vehicle info and do a search for idler, a bunch will come up, click on pics to see which one matches the one you need. They also have the belt tensioner if you need that. And they ship internationally.

I regreaesed mine a few times but the platic itself was worn. Ended up getting metal lifetime warranty pulleys from as. Think it was about 4 years back and maybe they were $20 each. New pulleys and belt caused some new pressure on water pump which started leaking within 1 month.
