I would have guessed that is was your passenger cat going to ****. But, since it no longer rattles, .

You guys wouldnt think that a max addtl 5 deg of timing over stock would cause some kinda internal problem??

What are the other symptoms of a cat breaking up or clogging?

could it be possible that I got ahold of some really watery gas?

The symptoms I had when my passenger side catalytic conventer went to **** was rattling at cruising speeds and when slowing down. It was a terrible rattttttllleehhnnn. It was so damn annoying! Also, the rattling would go away if I accelerated hard or just revved the car. But, right after I would rev it, it would rattle. Sort of like rev-rattle. At first i thought it was an exhaust hanger, but found nothing and found out it was indeed the cat. converter. I got it replaced free under warranty. The dealership charged GM $948.00 to replace it.

yeah my friend had this problem on his s-10. turned out to be the cat. i would of never thought that, but it was.

You might have a bad CAT.

I had a pass side rattle that sounded like someone tapping a dime on a counter. Sometimes like someone shaking a spray paint can. IT WAS THE CAT! The funny thing is that it would there one day, go away, and come back again.

A hammer fixed it!

Well if you buy the catalytic converter yourself it will cost no where near what the dealer charged GM. You can buy HI-Flow Cats anywhere from $80-$150. But I'm with you, just go for the O/R Y!

Welp.. On the way to work. the car was feeling really slow. so I got on it to see what was up. Well at about 5k rpms I get a huge pwr increase and the rattle is back lol. so I'm definately thinkin the cat is screwed its like something was clogging the exhaust flow... I may try the hammer fix so I'll have some time to save up money for the LTs and ORY lol...

The hammer fix only helps if the core is rattling around in the case but won't help if it is clogged.

Eitherway it is very good stress reliever to smack the cat one or two good times.
