One of my son's 3.8 cars has the bad rattling tanging sound cold only, without the sucking air sound. From what I can tell, it's in the pulley system. I actually believe it's the harmonic balancer. But he took it to the engine builder (about 25k on the rebuild) and he did not express concern about it.

Well the cat blocked and started to come apart inside then it traveled back and clogged the muffler LMAO cost me 145 bucks to have local shop cut bottom of the cat open and clean it out AND cut the sides of the muffler and blow the crap out. Runs good again, would only go 25mph with it clogged. People were beeping at me driving to the shop, was funny as hell. Some old lady passed me and gave me the finger! I almost crashed the car laughing.

Yeah but...
Im glad to have the info, shopping for school cars for son!! 😀. Appreciate the info!! I knew the 3800's were good but haven't researched in a while and hadn't heard the latest on the updated/last gen. 3800s. I'm thrilled they are still the gold standard!! Cheers!
