Does anyone get 250 miles
#41
I've been keeping track lately and on the last 4 tanks i've had mileage has been 28,26,27.5 and 27mpg. Some were all highway or atleast most but some were 50/50 split with a few more miles in town than on the highway. I can get almost 375-400 on a tank with mostly highway (keeping it around 80-95mph the whole time). In town it just depends on how i drive because i've gotten as good as low 20s and as bad as mid teens.

Well, here's what I can offer to help make some sense of this:
1.) People with manuals are going to see a very large amount of variation in mileage due to both driving style and environment. Drive it like you stole it and expect mid teens. Anything normal or highway should yield over 22 or so.
2.) Auto guys with stalls = bad city mileage, no so bad highway. Auto guys are also more sensitive to highway speed, 85 worse than 75...
3.) Short trips KILL mileage in these cars. If you tend to drive 10 or so miles a go you are going to get bad mileage. Same for traffic of course but seriously the short trips are probably the single worst divider outside of mods.
4.) Cold weather/hot weather can be a 1-2mpg swing.
5.) Tires can be a 1-2mpg swing.
6.) Everybody's gas gauge is different, 2-3 gallon different empty readings, for sure.
7.) Some people might stop filling at the first click, some people might be pumping in that extra 1-2 gallons.
You add all that **** together and it should make sense why there are ranges from 150 - 350, before you even start talking about the condition of the vehicle and mods.
My LT1 hard top A4 3.23 gave me anywhere from 14 to 22.
My LS1 vert A4 2.73 gives me anywhere from 17-26.
More than anything, I think the short trips are the biggest killer. Terrible, terrible mileage running around town, bar hopping, stuff like that.

Check my sig. I NEVER get less that 250 miles per tank. I have gotten as high as 375 miles with very little left over. I'm still getting 26mpg highway after all this time and can still blow the doors off of most people out there. I love this car!!

my car gets about 260-270 until my gas light comes on. Which gives me about 3 gallons left. I have never pushed far past the time when the light comes on..
EDIT: How many gallons does our cars normally have after the light comes on???

Just did a trip from San Antonio to Dallas and back today.
Going, averaged 28.4mpg and 27.7 back! At the final gasup, I put in 14.4 and got 399 miles on that tank and the light never came on Now, I average almost exactly 15 around town though

I get around 300 miles per tank at crusing speeds around 75mph on the highway. Of course crusing around locally - that's a different animal altogether.
My lastest trip to Sparta (St. Thomas Dragway) yielded 265 miles from a full tank with about an 1/8 of a tank left. That included driving to/from Sparta at 75 mph on the highway (plus crusing through town at lower speeds) and doing 10 quarter mile passes at WOT.
