I've never tried jumping the compressor.....I don't believe you have to have the car running to start adding R134, but when I do it, I start the car, put the a/c on max hi (a/c will not come on) and I start adding. When the system has a suficient amount of pressure, the compressor will kick on.

Check your fittings. Im not very familiar with the can/guage combos they sell at the store.

I have a manifold gauge set that I hook the can into.

i'm about to put the stuff in mine, haven't done it yet, but i've heard you want to have it at a high idle while you put the stuff in (1200-1500rpm)

If you are using the manifold set, make sure you are connected to the low pressure port on the accumulator and that you have all the valves open. My set has valves at the manifold and at the line/system connection. Now that you punctured the can, you have to back out the puncture screw otherwise the freon wont flow.

well i had a can already on a cheapo line and gauge, hooked it up to the low pressure side and it didnt do anything, it was the cheapo valve in the line that was messed up so i ended up getting another can and hooking it up to my manifold gauges and it went right in and kicked the compressor on, thanks guys!

Quick question, what are good pressures for the high and low side?

Do a Search for my posts in this forum (General Maintenanced), I have posted them multiple times. Generally 30-50 low and 150-300 high depending on temp and humidity

Thanks, Mine stopped working, but the high side was 100 psi so I thought that was about right. Knowing that's low, I added a little freon in the system and she's working again. High side is 235 so I figure it's OK now.

Only took it 3.5 years to leak down to the point it stopped blowing cold. So maybe I got a leak. Oh well, thanks.
