Default pulgged iridium

i had a tune up done a couple weeks ago and i just got to thinking that maybe my plugs are an issue.

my buddy mechanic did the work at my house. taylor wires, ac delco iridium.

i would like to know if gapping them would effect any thing because my buddy gapped them at .60

what would this effect?

thanks

Not sure how true this is but I was told not to gap Iridium plugs.

Non Iridium NKG plugs I gap to .060 which is factory specs.

The iridium spark plugs come already pregapped and if you gap them again you will probably damage them. This just from looking at them.

i think ac delco gap is .40
the mechanic said the reason why they say not to gap them is because the tips are sensitve and can be damaged when gapped. (he was acting kocky and said he only he knows how to gap iridiuim) i said B.S.

does any body know if them being gapped can cause any damage, or effect perfromance

I regapped mine to .055 without any issues. My car ran rough for some reason with them at .040. As long as your buddy knew what he was doing he shouldn't of messed them up. But you never know. The only way to know is to pull them and check.
