Try going back a little later and pulling the window up while pushing the window "up" button. There may be enough juice left for it to go all the way up. However, I don't think its a problem if its in the down position as far as changing the motor.

you can change it no matter where the window is.... Dont pull up to hard can break things in there.. Never force any window...

just get a rebuiild kit for the motor..cheaper than a new one and will last longer..the rebuild kit ha a bronze gear in it not a plastic one..

If the window is resting all the way on the bottom, you'll probably be OK, but I'm pretty sure that when you remove the power window motor the window will drop so I would say that if it's not all the way down, spend the time and try to get it all the way up. The other issue would be being careful not to accidentally damage your window during the install... honestly it was hard enough to hold the window motor in place and get the screws in it.. there's not a *ton* of room in there.. and there's even less with the window actually rolled down. But it's definately easier than say changing the spark plugs on my LT1

Quoting from another thread:

It ROCKS, and I'd like to add 2 things.

First, when you drill out the rivets from your stock unit, use a 1/8" bit, not 7/32". 1/8" is perfect for one drill through. Also, his advice of using a 1/2" bit is good if you can't accurately estimate where your rivets are behind your inner door. I used a 1/4" bit and had to widen the hole a little, so in retrospect a 1/2" bit would have been perfect.

Also, you don't need a C-clamp because this worked perfectly:

20oz coke bottle fits so perfectly in there that you don't need anything else to hoist the window up under the pad."

The 20oz coke bottle trick was awesome!
