Backfiring problems?
Backfiring problems? Well after getting my new engine in the car i also put a set of pacesetter longtubes and the pacesetter off road ypipe with no cats dumped to a loudmouth exhaust. I noticed that when i first start the car it starts fine and idles fine. But if you rev it up or start driving it every time you get off the gas it backfires real loud. The backfiring goes away after the car warms up though. So yesterday i got on it on the highway and shifted to 5th and the rpms were around 3500. I let it sit there for a little bit and i heard the same backfiring noise? Is this normal to happen? Also i dont have a tune for the car done yet with the new mods but i honestly cant find a place that will do it in my area. I looked on here for all the local places and they didnt answer my email.

IM not sure about that but mine has a mild pop almost like a backfire when i crank it cold. But that is the only time it doesit. what kind of mods do you have with your new engine. You usually dont have to tune the car unless you put heads, cam, etc.

Normal for a car that hasn't been tuned and has an open exhaust. Lack of backpressure. I haven't programmed since the 870 ecm was out (85 T/A & Camaro TPI), but I am pretty sure they can tune your deceleration a little leaner to help
