Default Light clinking sounds from under T/A?

From park to reverse right when the car starts to reverse there is 2-4 clinking sounds coming from under the front middle...also when going to drive from reverse there are clinking sounds...not as bad as when im going from park to reverse...im sure they are there but my exhaust is so loud they are hardly audible from gear changes after that...

the clinking sound is very peculiar...it sounds like someone is taking a metal pen and slapping it against my cats...what could this be?

This may well be the driveshaft "tink" that many of us have had. It's only an issue with the aluminum DS cars (all A4 LS1 cars with 3.23 gears had the aluminum DS). Doesn't seem to be as common on the M6 cars though. It's really hit or miss as to whether or not any given one will "tink". The DS in my '99 Z28 did it, but the one in my '00 WS6 did not. My current '98 Z28 has 2.73s though so it's ammune to the problem. The steel shaft 2.73 cars don't tink.

Some are bad enough that they even tink when shifting while driving.
