changing oil pump while motor is in the car?

Your gonna have to completely remove the oil pan to get at it properly and that oil pan is sitting really close to the k-member. So you might have to drop that too, although thats alot less of a hassle than pulling the motor.
It's been a while since I've been under one so I'm having a hard time remembering how things are situated under there.

Re: changing oil pump while motor is in the car? well, the motor mounts are disconnected and the motor will jack up a pretty good distance. got the motor up pretty good but still couldnt get the oil pan off, looks like it was hitting the bell housing on the tranny and wouldnt come back any farther. unfortunately rick, who was a huge help, hurt his hand needed to go take care of it so i put everything up and called it a night. hope i dont have to drop the tranny to get the amoutn of room need to back the pan off enough. how hard is tit to drop the K-Member while everything is in the car. should the motor still be mounted to the car if i do this?

Re: changing oil pump while motor is in the car? Not that hard to drop the k-member. Just need to make sure the motor is well supported. If you have a leveler that would be best but if not oh well. You would only need it supported for the time you are swapping the oil pump.

Re: changing oil pump while motor is in the car? It can be done without removing the K-member. You have to jack the motor all the way up and then some.
