Unhappy Please tell me it can be fixed

So, I was changing out my starter and the damn bolt got seized in there. Managed to get it out but at a great cost. I cracked my block. The piece is still on there and didnt completely come off. I was told it could get fixed but for a pretty penny. What do you guys think. The crack is on the outside piece of the block (long bolt). I had to leave my car on base. What can I do?!?!?!?

i good welder should be able to weld the broken piece and maybe build up a weld and re-tap it. you may have to remove exhaust, tranny, and flywheel. to give him room to weld the entire crack

maybe depending on how much work you are willing to do, removing tranny, flywheel, and headers. you can drill and re-tap the threads your shelf ounce a good weld is built up. i really don't know how bad the crack is.

The threads are stripped and the hole is only cracked on one side and not all the way up.

I have a block here that was welded right where yours was cracked. Find a shop that has a TIG and can use it.

If you know the size, just pick it up from a hardware store.

go find a double ended stud that would fit and stick it up there with the broken piece and some jb weld. instead of a bolt up there you would have a nut and stud holding one side. it would be easier and cheaper then pulling the engine to weld and as long as the other bolt is fine you should be okay.

I got my car back to my place, I had to push start it to get it here. I ran it without the starter on it. I am going to try and get a picture on here to show you guys exactly what i mean. I thought about doing the longer bolt and nut deal but I dont know if the JB weld will hold. I already bought a new starter bolt from the dealer this morning. This is just becoming a pain in the a$$!!! Oh yeah, now my Service Vechicle light is on now, probably from the starter not being there....

I remember reading that they have an aluminum sticks that are made for welding onto aluminum. You melt them using MAP gas. Don't know if you can get up in there to o it though. I'd try JB weld if you can't, thats much cheaper than all the other options. If you took your car to a welder, it shouldn't cost very much. This is what I would do. You could also call your local college and talk to the welding teachers, sometimes they will do work for you. Thats what I do when I need welding done thatI can't do myself.

can you weld on the engine block without it fusing anything inside, like the main and rod bearings?
