Default Looking for a new Higher Output Alternator

I want/believe I need a new alternator. I just put in a new Optima red top, but the voltage still drops down more than I think it should. Starts out about 14 volts or so, then drops to about 12-12.5 while driving. What is a good alternator to put in that is a bit more powerful that will bolt up exactly with no modifications. I have a 5 channel amp pulling a bit of power so I'd like something stronger than the stock one. Also, I where do I get my hands on one of these units?

Sounds pricey. I don't need a real huge jacked up one, I just want to upgrade a little bit, but I'll check into those guys for sure.

How many amps does a stock one put out? I don't know a whole lot about these things.

So what's the GM part number for the 135amp that bolts directly onto an LS1 F-body (assuming it's a direct bolt-on)?

the 135amp alt part No. is 15200109, direct bolt on, turn key, you'll need a different belt. It's one that's a little longer. I have no idea what the part No. for it is, but it's on pt.net for sure. just search for it

Thanks for the info, I'll have to look into that for sure and try to find out which belt fits it.

Now I may sound really stupid, but what is pt.net? Tried it as a website but came up as basically a site waiting to be sold.

Yeah, I think I like the idea of $120 over $500. If I had a huge system or something I'd go for it, but I don't think I need that much juice. Now I just need to figure out which belt to get. also, I plan to get an asp pulley, so it sounds like I'll have some fun trying to find the right pulley to go with it, or will that one be the same? I can't remember how the belts run.

Just use the pully off of your ls1 and you'll be ok I think. I cannot quite remember if the case is larger or not. I think they are the same physical size so all of the belts for your asp pulley will work correctly using this alternator providing the case is the same.
