Default Pennzoil Platinum

Anybody got any info on Pennzoil Platinum? Advance Auto has it on sale buy one get one this month, but all the local store has is 5w-20, 5w-30, and 10w-40. Not sure if the 5w-30 is acceptable. Or even if the oil is worth buying. If it is, I'll buy 2 cases and get 2 cases free! LOL!

Okay, but WHY would they not run it? That's surprising since it's a true full synthetic. There's got to be evidence somewhere that would make one believe it's not a good idea.

I have no idea. But we're talking synthetic, so I don't think it matters.

Anybody got any actual info on the Platinum bling-a-ling oil?

They don't "use" wax, but years ago the rumor was they were paraffin-based oils. I don't know if that was urban-legend or not, but that was the story. On the topic...I can't imagine there being any thing "wrong" with the Penzoil full synthetic. I won't run it, but that's a personal preference.

My roommate works at tire kingdom and was able to get me a deal on a fully synthetic oil change. I have ran Mobil 1 in the past and the Pennzoil was all they had. I agree that it has seemed to take away the ticks a bit in the cold. However, I have a rough idle occasonally.. but that may not be related to the oil.
