Default Window Trouble... need advice!!

Hey guys,

My passenger side window will go almost all the way up smoothly except it will make an abrupt stop about a 1.25 cm from the very top. It will go all the way up but the door has to be open. The motor seems ok and isn't that slow. Idk, should I just replace the motor, or is there another problem? Driver's side is fine.

I what this fixed because it's a pain to have to reach over to open the passenger door when you what to roll up the windows all the way.

Thanks,
Nick

That's what i thought. Has anyone else had this problem with it working fine not slow or anything but stops a centimeter to short? When you replaced the window motor did it fix the problem?

Thanks,
Nick

replacing the motor will not fix this problem!
I have the exact same problem still with my driver's side window. After having the motor replaced under extended warranty three times, (another 2 times I believe under normal 36k warranty), the standard GM warranty fix of replacing the motor does not solve anything. I believe the problem is the window is coming off its rail it is mounted to or the regulator is bad.
do a search though

Check the white plastic hooks on the bottom of the window? Are they going into the slots at the top of the door frame?

I replaced my motor and had the problem of the window popping at the top. Before you replace your motor or your regulator give this a try.
(I needlessly replaced my regulator only to find it was this adjustment that I needed)

Once you have the door panel off and pull back the plastic, on the left side of the door there are two bolts with alan wrench holes in the middle of the bolt with black nuts to hold them on. If you look at them they have a washer built into the middle of the bolt that acts as a stopper. You can feel how far the bolts come out the back of the window guide piece they attach to on the inside of the door. I had to adjust these bolts in and out to get the window to stop popping. Depending on how far you move each bolt in and out will determine the angle of the guide that the window slides up and down on.

To adjust it...put the alan wrench in the hole so the bolt wont move too much, loosen the nut and then turn it to move it in or out using the alan wrench. You have to use the alan wrench to keep it where you want it while you tighten the nut. When you start, do very subtle adjustments, I would try pulling the left bolt in more and see how that affects it. Maybe mark the bolts so you can see there original position. Since there is no rule of thumb or guide on how to do this it can take a long time adjusting each screw in or out to see how it affects the window going up and down. What worked for me was putting the guide at an angle using the bolts with the left side very close to the door and the right side angled out a bit.

Remember this can take a while but after a few hours of fiddling with different positions I got it as good as I could. Its not perfect but it doesnt pop like it used to. If you do need a new regulator youll have to adjust it anyway, at least I did.

This is another method to aid the problem. Our kit is easier to install and corrects the voltage problem at hand with the passenger window; not just another band-aid.
*cough*
