Default Drivetrain/diff, Help!

first off, i drive a v6 camaro a4. (the people on the v-sux forums are retarded, and know little about their vehicles). My probelm is last week i was driveing and noticed a shaking/grinding noise from my rear differential when accelerating. It started every once and a while, now its all the time. The noise isnt constant, at all. The gears dont whine like my truck did when the diff went bad. Its only happens wen taccelerating, and i havent noticed any lose in power to the ground it just feels like my drivshaft or diff. is gonna break. does anyone know what could be the problem? i have heard u-joint, maybe?

edit: maybe a mod can reloacte this to the rear end section if they wish, due to my noobness.

Go under the car and start pushing and rotating parts to locate the problem.

yeah, thats what i was thinking too. but i live downtown and cannot jack it up til i drive home from school. i was hoping someone has had experience with this.

are you sure its coming from the drivetrain (dif) itself...or could this be a suspension issue?......being able to lift the car will help you out with alot of your ?s....considering you can do more and inspect more....otherwise its hard to say what it exactly could be....other then a joint

its not the suspension b.c it only happens when i press the throttle. and i dont have to floor it, only accelerate slightly. it sounds like the drive shaft is out of balance or something.

ok, just got it fixed. It was the carrier bearing. two piece driveshfts FTL. I replaced that bitch 3 years ago, and now i had to replace it again today.
if anyone doesnt know what a carrier bearing is, is the piece in the middle of a two piece driveshaft. The rubber surronding the bearing wears out and sags the driveshaft causing pressure on the bearing. eventually the bearing gives.

They are center bearing supports. I've had a couple people tell me a service part was not available. One guy just had a custom 1 peice steel shaft made and it ended up being cheaper than messing with the cbs.

the parts arent available. you have to buy a new driveshaft. but im glad i got it fixed. i was in a hurry, fixed in less than 2 hours.

You've been hanging out on the wrong v6 forums.

You also should have thrown an aluminum shaft in there from someone here.
No cbs, still fit in a v6 car, no need to make a custom. But you would have known that if you were on the right v6 forum.

well, theres a guy around were i live that has a 12 second v6. so that was my main reason getting on there. and they are all noobs. they dont know anything about their cars. the only reason i still drive this car is b.c im in college and cant afford a newer car. i paid this off when i was 17.

i was gonna go with an aluminum, i was gonna drive to the dealership and buy one but they kept telling me it wouldnt fit. i said, yes it will. both shops i asked said no. I knew i was right, but just replaced it with oem to save time.

now theres a new problem, my starter

i started a new thread about it. basically, i turned the key over in my car and the starter wouldnt shut off. It kept spinning. I went inside to grab something to take off the battery terminals with but by the time i poped the hood the starter was burnt up. so im gonna replace it this weekend.
