Oil Change

Oil Change Ok. so i just got an LS1 about a month ago, and i'm about to change the oil, my car is smoking a little and my mechanic told me to go for 10 W40 Synthetic, but what brand should i use?? My car is a 98 Z28 with about 134K miles.
everyone will tell you to use GC 0w-30 (German Castrol from AUTOZONE) but with my experience with my H/C ls1. i use non synthetic 10w-40 valvoline or pennzoil w/ K&N 2006 filter. (longer version)
add 6qts and you should be fine. check oil daily and add if itz needed.

well... the thing is, if i switch from Synthetic to non-synthetic it may damage the engine, that's what i've heard fom ALOT Of ppl, once you go synthetic you can't go back. And just to make sure, did all LS1's come with Synthetic Motor Oil from the Factory? I've seen a few LS1's with Mobil 1 10 W30 Synthetic plates in the engine Compartment.

trust me.. your ls1 needs oil period. dont matter if itz synthetic or not. non-synthetic oil will NOT hurt the engine. WHO TOLD YOU THIS~?~?~!! you are only hurting your engine only if oil level is low. synthetic oil just last lot longer and harder to break down. thatz it. if you use non synthetic oil and just change the oil lil bit more frequently then EVERYTHING is fine.
