It specs out really well, and should be great stuff. The Amsoil Series 3000 5W-30 beats it in a few areas, (higher TBN, higher Cst @ 100*, lower pour point, higher viscosity index, lower cost at dealer/preferred customer prices). But the RL has lower volatility, higher flash point, higher % of ester base stocks, and MUCH more moly/zinc in it's formula.

I'm with RPM WS6

My car doesn't burn any oil in between changes (3-4000 miles with GC 0W30).

Maybe I'm just lucky.

IMO; ls1 burns it and why would you spent xtra money on the freaking oil??
I don't know, maybe so the wear is less in between changes.
Your going to spend more money changing cheap oil more often then running a quality synthetic for longer intervals. Not to mention the better protection.

I have to say I am also using GC 0W-30 and never burn any oil between oil changes - 3000, 4000, and once at 5000 It depends on the car and who drives it - but I will still go with saying oil is oil but the syn's are all different

I put GC in and it knocked like hell but after 20 miles I haven't heard a peep from my motor besides a little backfire here and there

And wax is wax, and wheels are wheels, and air filters are air filters. Each has their own following of minutia-philes. Your anti-oil-minutia rant is simply the other side of the oil-minutia coin.

Oil is different. All will do okay in the short run, many will do okay in the long run. But there's a couple out there that are the best. Some want to know which one that is. Some just want to sound like they know something.

Others just yell and say, "Look at ME!"

I must have factory freaks too because neither my Firehawk nor my T/A burn any oil between changes....and the T/A goes about 8000 miles between changes (I go by the oil change light).

My oil analysis are so good Blackstone has me up to 7000 miles between changes. Wear metals are very low and I'm still not burning or using any oil between changes.

I'm using the 0W-30 GC.

My wear metals analysis at 6000 mile intervals on the GC are about half the amounts of the wear metals at 4500 mile interval of Mobil 1 10W-30.

I ran a 5500 mile OCI last time on GC and my wear metals were so good Blackstone recommended going to 6000 next time.

also one more thing is it true about "windage" if you fill ur crankcase with 6qts as opposed to 5.5 it will hit the crank and "aeroate" your oil causing to be thin and foam up.

Myth or not?

I use a full 6 qts. but I use the longer K&N filter (HP2006) that holds more oil.

see, i use a regular PF46 AC DELCO filter so I think that might become a problem. Im gonna stick with 5.5 qts from now on unless told its ok to do.

I have never had an oil consumption problem with my car, and all I have ever run is the 10-30 Mobil 1 synthetic. I guess that you just gotta run what works for you and keep it changed on a regular basis.

I can't believe that ChacoTaco hasn't chimed in on this thread with a 2 or 3 page rant!
