I used to have a turbo DSM and had the same issue. I know apples to oranges, but I never had any kind of A/F issues. My best guess was it was the ambeint temprature or something cuasing a little extra pressure??? Not sure on that, but like I said, no troubles with or without.

I don't think I've ever heard mine either. Maybe I'll try replacing the cap too since they're like 2.99

My 4th gens have NEVER made that sort of "pressure release" noise when removing the gas cap. Not even when brand new (and I've had 3 of them). Neither does my Monte, Bonneville, or Cavalier.

And here in IL they do a gas cap pressure test along with the emissions test, and mine passed just fine even without that noise.

Last car I had that did that was my '89 Formula from time to time. But that had the old school gas cap that was threaded rather than the one-turn style on all the newer GM cars.

Wouldn't worry about it - if you had a leaking cap or evap system problem you'd throw a code.

I think the newer gas caps nowadays are vented as oposed to caps from the "muscle car era" that were not vented. Hence thats why you dont hear the sound when u take it off.

I may be wrong...

Only time it would become anything to worry about is if you begin smelling the gas as well...but thats kind of a no-brainer lol
