When is the clunking in the Diff normal?

When is the clunking in the Diff normal? I heard that having a clunking differential is normal with F-bodys. Mine does it, but I want to know if its the normal clunking or if its something going bad.
Ill try to describe it:
It clunks from about 10 mph to 30 mph any faster there is no sound, it dosent clunk under hard acceleration, it also dosent clunk when turning.
Is it normal?

im sorry man im not trying to hijack the thread but that kinda worries me....mine clunks when im off the gas just coasting at low speeds and when i turn at low speed. it may be doing it all the time, maybe i just cant hear it over my exhaust???

It is perfectly normal for Torsens to "clunk" or make the muted "rocks in a box" sound on off throttle "coast down" as noted above. This is due to their worm gear design. If it makes A LOT of noise otherwise (I.e.; NOT on coast down) there may be a problem.
But the O.P. has a '94, so if he still has the stock/original Auburn (that's what they came with, right?) and it is clunking, there probably IS a problem.

rear end noise I had the same prob slow down or down shifting grinding or vibrating sound turned out my pinion gear was loose and was eating up my lsd and gears had to replace my pinion shaft gears lsd and one axle shaft
